The Helldivers 2 Galactic War is at a crucial point, with The Illuminate currently aiming to send the black hole towards Super Earth. This will be a crushing blow to the Helldivers as billions of civilians will be wiped out, along with much of the military and resources.
Despite months of leaks and anticipation, players haven’t connected with The Illuminate as Arrowhead Game Studios would have liked. With a few tweaks, they could be a great third faction, but with only a handful of enemy types and a lack of mission variety, many players have just reverted to playing against their favorite faction, usually the Terminids.
Although the Terminids are the clear favorite faction among the community, the latest Helldivers 2 Major Order may be a flop thanks to the addition of the Automatons.
The Helldivers 2 community has been tasked with collectively eliminating 1 billion Automatons and 1.5 billion Terminids. With just seven hours to go, it is looking unlikely that this will be possible.
At the time of writing, players have only managed to wipe out 717,635,576 Automatons, and 1,277,010,693 Terminids, with this equating to 71.8% and 85.1% completion respectively.
While it isn’t completely out of the question that it can be beaten, the final seven hours fall during the quietest time of the day, western working hours. Currently, Helldivers 2 only has approximately 50% of its peak player base active, making it even more unlikely that we will be successful.
It has been a while since the Helldivers 2 community has failed a Major Order, with the past four being successful. Coincidentally, the last time a Major Order was failed was February 13, exactly one month ago.
Even if the Major Order is failed, players have put a massive dent in the Automaton and Terminid forces, which should still leave to a positive outcome in the Galactic War.
